This project was a labor of love for me, as it was directly inspired by my hobby of point-in-shoot photography. Throughout its 240 pages, the book collects some of the more interesting items in my “toy camera” collection and the images they produce.
Interviews with the inventor of the Holga and those responsible for the Lomography movement help explain the role of marketing and pop culture in these cameras’ popularity, as well as the enthusiasm for their “shoot from the hip” look.
Some use film that is no longer produced, so we had to use expired film and hunt down developers with the capacity to take it on.
